Books. Hands off to the State of Illinois this week, for enacting a state law outlawing the banning of books in public libraries!
In the words of Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias: “The concept of banning books contradicts the very essence of what our country stands for. It also defies what education is all about: teaching our children to think for themselves.”
Every American has the right to read and to freely access libraries. Book bans are about censorship, marginalizing people, marginalizing ideas and facts. Do not stand idly by and let the right to read and to freely access libraries be taken from us.
I enjoy making by hand zines, miniature books and journals, each one unique – this blank journal book is made from an upcycled book cover, bound with waxed linen thread using the coptic stitch, and random quotes added inside the cover.
a leaf 잎, a sound, a shape, a letter formed, a book.
